Built as a raised bed garden to facilitate soil warming and discourage encroachment of weeds and their seeds, the garden features inert building materials for the sides and corners to increase longevity and make questions about safety of produce due to wood preservatives easy to answer. This garden promotes victory over high food budgets and is a great way to teach children the joys of gardening, where their food comes from, and that “they are what they eat.” "Ann & Andy’s Garden Party" ~ Andy’s Unique Landscape Design (Andy Craig • 803.645.0121) pairs with Ann Baker’s figurative, garden sculptures (Annbclay.com • 803.642.9403) to create his newest garden displays. Find ideas for elegant nooks, serene fountains, and whimsical garden rooms, all inspired to create your own unique garden retreat. Enjoy your own garden party every day! Karen Jeffcoat of Cote Designs is a regular “winner” for the Aiken Garden Show and other area garden shows because her designs and ideas are tops. Karen will amaze you with her creativity and combination choices. You won’t forget her display and will probably go home trying to figure out how you can achieve the same effect - or hire her to do it for you! Special thanks to Cold Creek Nurseries for supplying the plants for Karen’s exhibit. Let Mike Fulmer (Aqua Design • 803.663.7850) create a relaxing oasis in your garden by building a pond or other water feature to add the soothing sound of water and the visual elegance of a naturalistic pond, complete with plants and fish. Mike will be doing a small water feature for the show that will demonstrate how home owners may enjoy water features in small areas like courtyards, patios, and decks. He will be available to show photos of water features he has installed and answer your questions about ponds. "Perennial Favorites" by Layman Nurseries - a wholesale nursery based in Trenton - is famous for their perennial plants not only in our area, but they ship to happy retailers throughout the Southeast. Their exhibit garden will feature a multitude of their blooming perennial plants that you might find in your local garden center and would make perfect Mother’s Day gifts. Come see how the experts who originate and grow these long-lived, multi-seasonal plants design a garden to feature them! |
